The three causes of human suffering are at the centre of the Wheel of Life. It symbolises the serpent of lust, which, in addition to sexual desire, also represents the insatiable craving for possessions, passion, the eternal pursuit of more, and the subsequent realisation that this more ultimately dissolves into nothing.
The rooster represents anger, lack of self-control, and excess. Anyone who follows this path inevitably heads toward damnation.
The pig in the centre of the wheel symbolises the third cause of human suffering. It represents stupidity, ignorance, and, above all, ignorance of the truth.
