No need to be a Vegan or Vegetarian to live longer

This is from my new book NUTRITION -Live 115 years Volume 2:

Chapter: Vegetarian

... You don’t need to call yourself a vegetarian. But if you're serious about living a long and healthy life, eating like one most of the time will get you closer to the goal of 115. This isn’t about following a trend. It’s not about joining a movement. It’s about following a way of eating that’s been proven time and again to support longevity, vitality, and disease resistance. It works on various levels, and that’s what matters.

Call it the “modern” version of a vegetarian, who can eat meat and fish of the best quality as additional sources for nutrition. And vegetarian in this meaning is not at all a “way of life” or something trendy, politically correct, or so. It’s the fact that most of your food should be plant-based. ...

Blue zones - a modern hype

The so-called "Blue zones", places of extraordinary longevity around the globe, are getting hyped again at the moment on social media and in the MSM.

It is alleged that there are five of these blue zones:

1 -Okinawa (Japan). Speciality: The consumption of soy and seafood, as well as the concept of "ikigai," contribute to longevity.
2 Ikaria (Greece). Speciality: The Mediterranean diet and a sociable atmosphere promote longevity on this island.
3 Nicoya (Costa Rica). Speciality: Thanks to a strong social community and regular activity, this island has a low mortality rate.
4 Sardinia (Italy). Speciality: This island is home to the world's oldest men, who often work as shepherds, eat healthy foods, and get plenty of exercise.
5 Loma Linda (USA). Speciality: Seventh-day Adventists stay fit and healthy with a plant-based diet and their deep faith.

Another blue zone, Lyme Regis in Dorset/UK. Before you move there, remember, it's a myth.

Today I read in a paper that Devon in the SW of England became a blue zone too. That

might contribute a lot to the housing market. Some of those who can afford it make a move.

In the hope that they live longer by staying in a blue zone, which comes in handy, is nearby for many Londoners who spend their days in the countryside.

Unfortunately, it's a similar myth to having good genes or walking 10.000 steps daily.

If you're after real news and information about longevity, stay tuned. Here at longevity art, we are not after selling any products, but gaining 115 years of life!

Happy days

Recently some people were talking about getting older and that they don't want to live forever as everybody, friends and family are dying around them.
Well, I thought how limited this view is.
Firstly people start dying around you as soon you are born and in my case I would say 75% of friends and half of family is dead already.
The important thing is how one deals with it.
Birth - life - death, that's the circle which is more a straight line, isn't it?

I believe strongly as long we are alive we shall enjoy it and make the very most of it.

Happy days!

Longevity with martial arts

The fountain of youth! Wouldn't it be nice to find it?

In my case I can clearly say, it is my life long committent to the martial arts. The body needs to stay active and kept in good condition and my training, especially the Jiu-Jitsu training is what keeps me on top of the game. At the age of 69 I have recently passed my latest test and received my last grading. I am a 4th Dan master grade Jiu-Jitsu now.

Find yourself a physical activity, a sport which keeps you fit and healthy, but does not absorb your body while practising. Jiu-Jitsu is the gentle art, the soft art. And there are very little injuries in this kind of sport.

Why you want to grow old in the first place?

You born - live a life - you die. That's the circle. The average time counted in years is about 85 in western societies nowadays. In days that means 31000 days (yes, one day of it is over soon). But what does it mean for longevity? How does it matter if you extend this time by five years? 25 years?

What I want to say is, live NOW!

What will your lifespan be like?

At present we look at a lifespan of about 70-90 years, if someone is lucky to get there and depending on personal living situation, genetics, location, life circumstances etc.

If we pick the good case you become 80 years old, you have lived 29,200 days by than. Funny how many hours might you have spent on doing ordinary stuff like washing up, shaving, or even sleeping?

Did you use your life time responsible, happy and worth living?

Not all of us can say so. Plans been made and never got there. Illness and the normal deterioration as we age kicked in.

Youth might have wasted time when young, as many people in their later years remark how short it all seems and how fast time flew by!

Time is perhaps the most precious resource of all, but many people only understand that when its too late.

Go and make the most of the day!

The influence of the moon

The influence of the moon on people can be seen and felt most clearly when there is a full moon. In terms of strength, the same influences apply at the time of the new moon, but the big difference lies in the lunar disk, which is so clearly visible when the sky is clear.

Tonight there is a full moon over Dorset again and that can mean that the tides are a little more extreme, some are unable to sleep, more births, but also more violence, plants are now particularly sensitive to changes, increased sex drive, drug and alcohol consumption is increasing, and the like much more.

We recommend the book “The Influence of the Moon on Men”, by Horst Lindenau, 2001.

... and as young as today

I am now in my sixties and sometimes I think that all the knowledge and information that I was able to acquire, some of it with difficulty, some of it took a long time, would have been an immense enrichment for my life if it had been available earlier. But unfortunately, I didn't come across the clever advisors and ways of life in earlier years. Nowadays, I am also actively searching for myself and am open to tips and tricks that can enrich my life. And I'm in no way saddened. The Methuselah calculator has certified that I will be at least 101 years old! And with the help of Club 115 advice >>> 115 years!

Everyone wants to grow old - nobody wants to be old

Birthdays are always something special in a person's life. Once a young person hears about numbers, years, and age differences with the privileges that come with them, it can't happen fast enough.

Finally going to school at the age of 6. Then 16! 18! 21 used to be such a magical age. Then the counting gradually becomes quieter. Years later you don't know when you ask your own age. Am I 38 or 37 now? From the age of 50, you can cheat. Don't be old! I found a photo of my 30th birthday today. Somehow, that's no longer true, yet it was only "recently". Time and years of life are difficult subjects to grasp.

As you make your bed, so you sleep

Most hotel beds have good matrazes

Hardly any proverb has so much truth. "As you make your bed, so you sleep".

Now let's be honest. What does your mattress look like? A friend of mine recently complained about back pain and I asked him about his mattress. Well, and that was still from his childhood days! 12 years old, completely worn out, just old.

Then we went spontaneously and bought a new one. There are offers in all price ranges, all qualities. Find a good shop and get advice. Doesn't have to be the most expensive, but new is always better than a completely worn out sleeping pad. Well, and a few days later I asked my friend on the phone how's it going with the back?

Wonderful, he said, it was a good investment. Good night!

Patients wait a long time for a doctor's appointment. That was 2012!

If you need a doctor's appointment in Germany, you have to be patient. According to a new survey, every third patient has to wait longer than three days for an appointment, every tenth even more than three weeks.

Almost 25% of patients who have had to wait for a doctor's appointment in the past 12 months think the wait was too long. About 30% of those surveyed had to wait longer than three days for an appointment. Visiting a specialist in particular often requires patience. About 25% of those with statutory health insurance have to wait more than three weeks for an appointment.

In contrast, patients with an acute need for treatment and private patients rarely have to wait. Ok, if you are sick, you need help. And that's what doctors are there for. The practice fee introduced a few years ago had the aim of reducing the number of patients, primarily unnecessary ones. Administrative tasks generated by this probably created work, money was taken from the coffers; that shouldn't be the issue. I mean, instead of getting worked up about long (3 days!) waiting times, the patient should make sure in advance that he doesn't become a patient in the first place.

If I take care of my health today,

I don't have to go to the doctors tomorrow!

Cancer is very common

Cancer, what is it actually? After all, this disease is now the cause of the death of over 200,000 people in Germany every year. Everyone's gonna die sometime. The only question is how and when. And cancer is the leading cause of death here in agony and dying at a rather young age.

Lung cancer is still the most common cause of death from cancer. In 2010 alone, almost 43,000 Germans died from it. Followed by breast cancer with 17500 deaths. Malignant changes of the colon and pancreas occupy the following places.

The most popular killer tumor in men is still lung cancer, and in women it is breast cancer. What does that tell us? Most diseases are probably home-made, i.e. they are the responsibility of the person concerned.

Think of the number one, lung cancer. There are now international studies on this disease that clearly show the connection between smoking and cancer. Diet and a massive lack of exercise are the next cause. So: get rid of cigarette butts or at least reduce consumption and go for a walk! Away with fast food and cook for yourself again. Then half the battle is won!

I m dead

We all have to; want, may, will and can die one day. In this respect we all become the same in death. A big difference is only present when it comes to how die? General desire to go to bed happy and content in the evening when you are very old and to fall asleep gently when you are as old as possible... that would be nice.

The reality is different. German figures.

1st place: heart failure. The year before last, more than 7 million people (12.9 percent) succumbed to this disease worldwide.

2nd place: Blood clots in the head, also known as a stroke. After all, 6.2 million victims worldwide.

3rd place: Other lower respiratory tract infections kill 3.2 million people. .

4th place: COPD. It sounds harmless, but it is the lung disease that kills 3 million people worldwide every year. Is usually self-inflicted, through smoking.

Place 5: 1.6 million people succumbed to the AIDS virus in 2011. 6th place: According to the WHO, smoking is one of the greatest dangers. terlima-news - Cancer of the lungs and bronchi are therefore the

6th most common cause of death. In total, 1.5 million people died directly from smoking in 2011.

7th place: Diabetes was the cause of death for 1.4 million people worldwide in 2011.

8th place: Traffic accidents are one of the most common causes of death worldwide. 1.3 million people died in road traffic accidents in 2011. Incidentally, a 10% increase in the number of cases in Germany.

Apple day!

Eat one apple a day. Really? An apple a day, keeps the doctor away. In Japan they say that about cherries.

But anyway, apples are good for you and add to longevity. Eating a few apples a week will improve the function of your lungs. Apples contain the antioxidant quercetin, which protects your lungs from the effects caused by smoke and air pollution.

Apples and carrots go well together.
